  • We’re looking for entities looking to sponsor charitable organizations (e.g., seniors).
  • We’d like to offer wine with Foundation labels (we need a volunteer to explore this).
  • We are exploring sponsorship of international foundations (e.g., doctors without borders).

Developments

  • The annual Harvest Dance will be discontinued and replaced with another event (e.g., March Spring Fling).
  • We are expanding the Foundation website and Facebook page (which will require membership); 4 Marketing Majors from Rider are assisting.
  • 2 Marketing Interns from Syracuse University are helping to establish a presence on Twitter and other social networking sites.
  • Diane is researching NJ Student Council Grants – you need to be a student or a member of the educational faculty.  Government grants are available; it’s an 8-step process which the Foundation has started.

Honors

  • The Foundation was honored by the Embrace Kids Foundation in the Fall of 2010 at The Pines in Edison as the 2nd largest contributor to the Palliative Care Initiative (the letter will be posted on the Foundation website).
  • On April 30, 2011, The Foundation will be recognized at the 19th Annual Mayor’s “Shining Star” Gala in Monroe Township (the invitation will be posted on the Foundation website).

Donations

  • Golf equipment donations have resulted in over 1,000 clubs, 300+ golf bags, 8,000+ golf balls and 32+ new golf shoes being sent to the troops in Afghanistan (with deploying soldiers).  This initiative will be discontinued (for now).
  • $3,000 in phone cards have been donated to the troops (and the Foundation would like to donate even more).
  • The East Windsor, NJ Superfresh is going out of business; the Foundation purchased $700 in items, some of which will be sent to troops (for distribution like phone cards).  The rest will go to Children’s Specialized Hospital and Better Beginnings.  Anyone who wishes to donate additional items, please bring to a Foundation meeting (no chocolate, please).
  • The Joshua Harr Shane Foundation offers an annual scholarship at Hightstown High School for selfless, dedicated young students.

Golf Outing

  • The 10th Golf Outing will be held on August 9, 2011 – we need donations!  We’re hoping for 200 golfers and 250-300 people for dinner.  At the next meeting, we will be putting together Joshua Challenge Tickets ($50.00 for one ticket; each additional will be $25.00).  Prizes will be selected ahead of time.  You can purchase online before the Outing.  There also will be a $300 lottery tree (1 ticket for $10.00, 3 for $20.00), a 50/50, and sleeves of balls awarded to eligible golfers.
