May 10, 2011 – Meeting Notes
Events
- The Foundation offered tickets to the Barnum & Bailey Circus at Sun Bank Arena on May 11th. Over 350+ people either purchased or received tickets through the Foundation (e.g., military families, Better Beginnings in Hightstown).
- The Harlem Globetrotters’ held a “meet and greet” at the Children’s Specialized in patient care Hospital in New Brunswick. “Buckets” visited with the children and JHSF-purchased basketballs were given out.
- We continue to donate items – e.g., art supplies, batteries, toiletries.
- The Foundation offered tickets to Trenton Steel arena football on May 20th.
- The Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure will be held October 3, 2011 at Six Flag’s Great Adventure. Please join the Foundation’s Team!
Developments
- The annual Harvest Dance will be discontinued and replaced with a St. Patrick’s Day Party on March 17, 2012 – SATURDAY NIGHT
- We have expanded the Foundation website, Facebook page, presence on Twitter and other social networking sites. A special thank you to the Rider students for starting the procedure. A special thank you to Suzy and Meg for taking it over and adding the “WOW FACTOR”
Honors
- The Foundation was honored by Better Beginnings in Hightstown (non-profit daycare) – April 30,2011
Donations
- Golf equipment donations have resulted in over 1,000 clubs, 300+ golf bags, 8,000+ golf balls and 32+ new golf shoes being sent to the troops in Afghanistan. This initiative will be discontinued (for now).
- We continue to send boxes to the troops in Afghanistan. Anyone who wishes to donate additional items, please bring to a Foundation meeting (no chocolate or aerosol items, please)
Golf Outing
- Donation Letters are now available for distribution.
- We accept all donations: items, gift cards (e.g., Wal-Mart), retired products (e.g., Staples)
- Be on the lookout for corporate sponsorship matches and discounted merchandise
- Numerous sponsorship opportunities are available:
- Flags on the hole
- Products
Sponsorship commitments for 2011:
- Jackie B/outing tote bags
- Wetac Corp./poker chips (on-the-ground golf ball markers)
- World-Check/divot tool
- Lafayette General Title Ins. Agency/grocery tote
- Mercedes Benz of Princeton/10th year of hole-in-one sponsorship
Numerous sponsorships still are available (e.g., dedicated golf balls on t-shirts)
- Outing Programs – printed by Triangle Repro Center (all services generously provided for no charge)
Sponsorship opportunities:
- $500 – whole page/hole sponsorship
- $250 – ½ page/hole sponsorship
- $75 – ¼ page
- $50 – Business Card advertisement only
The 10th Golf Outing will be held on August 9, 2011 at Mercer Oaks Golf Course. There will be a buffet lunch, all-day open bar (non-alcoholic beverages, wine and beer), cocktails and a sit-down dinner. We’re hoping for 200 golfers and 250-300 people for dinner.
Joshua Challenge Tickets will be $50.00 for one ticket; each additional will be $25.00. Prizes will be selected ahead of time.
There also will be a $300 lottery tree (1 ticket for $10.00, 3 for $20.00), a 50/50, sleeves of balls awarded to eligible golfers, a Chinese auction, Bottle-rama ($10 for a ceramic bottle that always contains some type of prize: gift cards, certificates for service and restaurants).
Several holes will have dedicated raffles/prizes
