Thank You So Much – JHSF

Thank you so much! We are still on the road. We will be getting in very late because we were stopped in a wreck. Traffic was backed up for like 12 miles at a stand still. We got a late start anyway because Peyton wanted to on his class field trip first to see a play this morning. He cried when he thought he would miss it so we had to make sure he went! I appreciate you taking care of that for us! That hotel is so nice and such an awesome rate for the families going to the hospital.

Everything went wonderfully with Peyton’s hospital visit and we don’t have to go back for 6 months or so (thank the Lord!!!) Brand new braces and we are SET! He was such a good boy on the trip – he asked and asked to go see Lady Liberty so we took him up on the Jersey side over to see her before heading home. We can’t thank you enough for your help in what is hopefully the last trip until the holidays or after.

I got your gift card in the mail and wanted to say thank you so much and it will be used for Peyton – he needs these special socks for his new braces so i am going to place an order. They’re so expensive and insurance doesn’t cover them.

It has been a long time since we have really needed any assistance with travel expenses to Philadelphia for Peyton’s care but I am in a tough place right now. We had to go up in Aug and he has to return for appointments on Sept 21. I have run out of paid leave at work and my mortgage is past due. It’s just me, dad is no longer in the picture so I’m just in a rough spot. Would the Foundation be able to assist with gas and tolls? Anything to provide relief this month – I would be so grateful.

JHSF Helps with Dental Surgery

Megan needed dental surgery. Due to the many challenges that she faces it had to be performed in a hospital. The cost was $4600. The Joshua Harr Shane Foundation was able to help the family have most of it covered by insurance after much research. We also helped the family with the out of pocket.

JHSF Pays for December Mortgage and Winter Clothing

The Joshua Harr Shane Foundation paid Dawn’s December mortgage and took her daughter shopping for winter clothes. While at Kohls Joshua Harr Shane Foundation surprised Mom and treated her as well! Their son was diagnosed with a rare disorder and has been homebound for the last 3 years.

Thank you so much for the shopping spree for Jess and I. We had so much fun with you. The Joshua Harr Shane Foundation has helped our family so much this holiday season. Thank you so much. Please keep us updated on the coming events that you shared with us. We would love to be apart of it. Also, would love to help you out when you need help with events. Thank you so much and have a Happy New Year!

Another awesome experience for our little “pumpkins!” It is a wonder to watch them select their own pumpkins, some liked the very little ones, some wanted the big ones, which they couldn’t pick up and some, well, we had to remove some from their bags as they are yet to young to understand, “One pumpkin and one gore only.” Still, they, too, were content. A big orange thank you!

Bridge Academy – Thank You!

Dear Friends at The Joshua Harr Shane Foundation:

Thank you for making it possible for me to go to the Bridge Academy. Now that I’m at the Bridge Academy everything is so much better for me.

Before I went to the Bridge Academy I didn’t have (many) friends but now I have a lot more. I get invited to kids’ houses and go to the movies with them too. We have a lot in common and I don’t worry about getting bullied.
In the other school the teachers talked too fast and I couldn’t understand what they were teaching. I wasn’t able to learn that much. My parents had to hire a tutor and I did a lot of my school work with the tutor.  On the days when the tutor didn’t come I had a hard time with doing my homework and it took up the whole weekend. Now I don’t need a tutor anymore and I can do my homework on my own.

In one way it’s a little bit harder now. My teachers used to let me just sit there and not participate (I didn’t mind that much). But my classes are so small now that they know if I don’t participate. Even in gym I have to participate. I went for 7 years and participated so little that when I finally got up to bat, I ran to 3rd base. They used to have a rule in the public school that when running laps “you can’t pass anyone except Max.” At Bridge, they cheer for me and told me I could do it.

I used to come home a lot of days crying and mom would have to call the principal or go down to the school. But now if I have a problem I can go talk to the teachers or the principal myself. I have opportunities there that I never had at the public school like getting a speaking role in the play (even though it was 3 lines), getting to play saxophone in the play and gala, and being VP of social house #4.

I am finally learning because I can read age-appropriate books and am not afraid to show my friends the books I’m reading. I start 9th grade next year and I am taking Algebra 1 and Biology. I worked hard to catch up so I could be on track for 9th grade. They are helping me be ready to go to college. I’ll never forget your help and changing everything for me.

Love,
Max

Thank you for helping my Brother!

The Joshua Harr Shane Foundation is an incredible organization helping real people in the community. I can’t thank Judith and her team enough for what they have done to help my brother. The good work being done here is a most beautiful tribute to the foundation’s namesake.
